The Final Journey

On August 4th, on my birthday, I was particularly excited because that was the day I was officially launching my new book The Quiet Brand— an important passion project for me. I had a beautiful day out in nature at the lake with family that day, and at night my mom, Luisa Amalia, called me from our home in Costa Rica to tell me she had been just informed— completely out of the blue—that she had pancreatic cancer and that it had spread everywhere. She had a few months left they said.

I'm now writing this in Costa Rica as she lies asleep, half in this world, half in the next, getting ready for her final journey. The tumors are eating her from the inside out. She says she is ready to die and is eager to stop feeling the aches and pains of her body collapsing from the inside out, like a supernova exploding.

Her beautiful big green eyes are as beautiful as always and I'm feeling the energetic explosion that's about to happen in my life. She was there on my very first breath, and I'll be with her on her last. A beautiful cycle of energy and love that now needs to continue within me.

When death begins to take those we love around us, it reminds us of the beauty and gift of being alive. The trick is to be able to make something positive out of something that is so hurtful and negative. She's the door I came into this world, and now that the door is fading away, I will have no option but to carry her memory and spirit forward with bravery.

My mother is a beautiful soul, who lived a hundred lives and was adored and loved by many. She was an artist, with an incredible eye for design and all that is beautiful in the world. She was always my number one fan—proud of all that I've accomplished and happy for my joy. It's going to hurt like crazy to see her go, and at the same time it's going to create a massive amount of energy that I hope to harness into creating positive things and experiences for all the many great people around me in my life. Death for me is a great reminder to appreciate what you have and be kind to those around you as you pursue the beautiful art and game of living life. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, "The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences."

(I hadn't finished writing this piece, and came back to it a few days later.)

Last night on October 1, just before midnight and on my father's birthday, my mom left this world.

She died peacefully with her two sons and grandson around her. I can feel deep inside that she made it safely to her new home. She was there when I had my first breath, and I was there when she had her last.

My mom was very extremely passionate about building a new and better world. I promise to take that energy forward in everything that I do personally and with The Dreamcatchers, something she was extremely passionate and proud of. I thank you for being in our circle and allowing me to share my dreams and visions.

Forgive, forget, believe, dream, seek peace, let go, surrender, and give yourself permission to reincarnate while alive, so you can learn and evolve. We are all beautiful flowers that need to bloom. Give yourself the things that you need—seek the nutrients, sun, water, experiences, and any personal conditions and dreams that you need in order to let the inner rose of your soul bloom.

The Dreamcatchers is a dream and mission to help people reconnect to nature, true joy, and themselves. I promise, on her behalf, that we will keep moving forward and growing strong with all those that join us. Thank you.
