PERSONAL ITEMS
Pharmacies in Costa Rica are abundant and well-stocked so don’t worry if you forget anything but would recommend traveling with any personal medicine you might need. (Pepto, Tylenol, Advil etc.)
Personal toiletries (including dental, earplugs, etc.)
Keep a photocopy of your passport in your wallet or other safe location.
Health insurance plan that covers you while traveling in Costa Rica.

MONEY
Money for incidentals and items of a personal nature. Banks and ATMs are numerous. Credit cards are accepted in most places. US dollars are accepted everywhere as long as they are in bills of $20 or less. US bills that are torn or marked are not accepted. Payment via phone is also common.
